Sunday on the Med

Sunday 13th July. Race 5 and 6 of the Summer Series, followed by Race 3 of the Summer Afternoon Persuit Series.
On a Sunday that was described by one member as sailing in the Mediterranean and so hot it that melted their socks off, a great days sailing was had by 21 crews out on the lake. The racing was followed by another session of sailing for the Visually Impaired (VI). Commodore Jeremy Cooper thanked those members that continue to support the VI sessions which can only be run if crews and additional safety boat cover is available.
In the Summer Series races the same three racers took the podium spots, although they shuffled there positions around a bit. Well done to Jeanette Davies to make the podium on both races. Overall only one point separates the top two sailors.

The afternoon pursuit race is gaining in popularity and a great entry into racing. Club expert Gaz Henshall has created a handy guide to pursuit racing - https://www.shotwicksailing.org/race-management/a-quick-guide-to-pursuit-racing
Well worth a look! The racing team is also looking to trial on-the-water live coaching during races. A great initiative that will develop as various approaches are tried…
Overall only a few points separate the first 4 boats.
